We must say goodbye to these 8 great missionaries. We have enjoyed each of them so much. They have been valiant servants of Jesus Christ in opening up their mouths and sharing the message of the Doctrine of Christ. We will miss them as we do all our missionaries who leave for home. But we know they will continue to increase in testimony of Jesus Christ and His Atonement and share the message of the restored gospel. We are fortunate to have 6 new missionaries join us in the Scottsdale Mission. Elder John came the farthest. He is from Kenya. Sis. Sosa is from Mexico. We get missionaries from all over the world in this mission. It doesn’t really matter where they come from. We love them and their desire to serve the Lord. We are excited to get to know them better. Elder Bruggeman will be serving in the mountains in Snowflake. Sis. Berube will be serving in the mountains in Eager. The other four will serve in Phoenix and Paradise Valley. We can’t wait to see these missionaries grow in strength and power as they proclaim the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Elder Ferrell recently completed his mission serving in our mission office. He has been a tremendous help to us and it has been a pleasure to get to know him. He lives in Scottsdale and will now begin school as ASU. One of the pictures below show E. Ferrell and E. Kirby together showing off the back of their ties. E. Ferrell’s grandfather has a tie business and he provided over 200 ties for all the elders in our mission. The tie label on the back reads “The Elder Taylor Ferrell Collection”. We are sure Elder Ferrell will go on and continue to do great things!

Towards the end of March we will held our zone conferences throughout the valley and up in the mountains. President Robinson continued his training on the “Power of the Word in Us”. Sis. Robinson trained on The Role of Members in Conversion. The assistants trained on Safeguards Using Technology. After lunch the Zone Leaders and Sister Training leaders trained in their individual zones on Talking to Everyone. As usual, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at each zone conference prepared by the various Stake RS sisters. We are very spoiled in this mission when it comes to being fed. We always try to end our lunch with singing to the sisters who have come and prepared such wonderful food. They also decorate the tables which seems to make the food taste even better. In one of the pictures below is Elder Crockett. He has become one of our finance secretaries. He lives at home in Scottsdale and serves as his stake’s Patriarch. We are fortunate to have him. He came to two of our zone conferences and gave a presentation on Patriarchal Blessings. He allowed for questions afterward and the missionaries learned much about patriarchal blessings. At another zone conference we had a recent convert of about a year and a half, Andy, come and share his conversion story. He is an outstanding young man and has an incredible story that began when he was in the fourth grade. He attended a birthday party of a classmate and at the party another classmate who is LDS began to teach him about Heavenly Father. Andy said he felt something overpowering come over him when this young friend talked about Heavenly Father. Fast forward many years later, he had a business trip in which he would meet and later develop a friendship with a man who was LDS. That led to being taught by the missionaries. When Andy excepted baptism he tracked down his old friend from the 4th grade and asked him to come and baptize him. The friend flew from his home on the east coast to baptize Andy May of 2016. Andy is currently serving as the YM’s secretary and they all love him in that ward. Andy is pictured in the Phoenix zone conference picture.

We had to say goodbye to these 7 stellar missionaries. In the back row Pres. Robinson, and then Sis. Nalder, Sis. Fairbourne, Sis. Asay, Elder Guthrie. Front row, Sis. Brown, Sis. Walker, Sis. Robinson, Sis. Lawrence. We know its time for them to move on to the next season of their lives, but we really have a hard time letting them go. These seven have been valiant and courageous in their missionary service. We know they will each go on to serve and lead in the church and be righteous disciples of Christ.
Elder & Sis. Perkins are the newest senior missionary couple to begin their mission in the AZ Scottsdale mission. They are Self-Reliant missionaries and live at home in Clay Springs. We are excited to get to know them better.
We received two new missionaries in March. Elder Fonnesbeck and Elder Gardner. Elder Gardner will be speaking Spanish. We are thrilled to have them and know they will have an amazing experience.
