Sis. Cahoon finishes her mission!

On Jan. 5, 2018, we had to say goodbye to this beautiful sister missionary, Sis. Cahoon.  Sis. Cahoon has a smile that lights up the room when she walks into it.  She touched so many lives with her testimony and goodness.  We wish her well in the next season of her life.  We grow so close to these missionaries while we serve together in the Scottsdale mission.  It is very hard to let them go.  We know Sis. Cahoon will continue to influence many people and uplift and inspire them.

January 2018 Zone Conferences

We wonderful zone conferences this month that both edified and motivated all of us to become better instruments in the Lord’s hands.  We participated in role plays to help us teach the doctrine of Christ better.  We discussed how we can better ‘become’ what our Heavenly Father wants us to become.  We learned about the “Power of the Word in Us” and how we can become more converted unto Christ by diligently studying His words and having the power of the Spirit help us as we become strengthened by His word.

Sis. Knudsen Completes her Mission

Sis. Knudsen completed her mission on Jan. 2, 2018.  She was a hard worker right up to the last minute on her mission.  She mastered the spanish language and developed a love for our spanish speaking population within our mission boundaries.  She brought the message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ to many, many people and helped them accept the invitation to Come unto Christ by being baptized.  We will miss her very much. We rarely, if ever, saw Sis. Knudsen when she wasn’t smiling!  We will miss that smile of hers.  We love Sis. Knudsen!

Mesa Temple Christmas Lights Dec. 2017

We are very fortunate to participate in the Christmas Lights Event located on the Mesa Temple property.  Members of the church start in September organizing, assembling and executing the massive undertaking of putting up several million lights, nativity scenes, nativity sets from all around the world, and more.  The event is open and free to the public every year starting the day after Thanksgiving.  Most people in the valley here have heard of or have attended the Christmas lights at the Mesa Temple.  Our sister missionaries have the opportunity to serve as hostess at various locations around the visitors center each night from Thanksgiving through Dec. 31.  Four companionships are assigned each night.  Its a wonderful opportunity to meet many people from different backgrounds and different faiths and share in our witness of the birth of Jesus Christ, His life and ministry and His atonement and resurrection.  Following are several pictures of our sister missionaries participating as hostess at the Christmas lights.  Not all sisters had pictures or the pictures were too dark to include.  Sorry.  All of our missionaries in the valley utilized this wonderful event to bring investigators to.  We are very thankful and fortunate to have this wonderful gift as another way to share the message that Jesus Christ was born, lived, died and was resurrected making it possible for all of us to have eternal life!!Mesa Temple Christmas Lights

Senior Missionary Get Together 12-18-17

We had fun getting together with the senior missionary couples who serve in our mission.  Also, Pres & Sis. Platt and Pres. & Sis. Azua, counselors in the mission presidency were able to join us.  We had a wonderful time playing a game on ‘how you met your spouse’ and reviewing the past and future goals of the mission.  We are very fortunate to have these ‘seniors’ here in the AZ Scottsdale mission.  They provide a great service to the wards they serve in and also keep our mission office, cars, bikes, and housing in good working order.
