On October 17 we welcomed this fine group of missionaries to the AZ Scottsdale mission. We are lucky and excited to have them and look forward to getting know them better in the coming months.
We had to say goodbye to these wonderful seven missionaries who have faithfully carried out their missionary duties for the past 18-24 mos. We will miss them but know they will do fine in life as they continue to serve others and stay active in the gospel.
Before flying out the next morning we enjoyed one last meal together and testimony meeting which followed. The weather has finally cooled enough in the evenings that we were able to eat outside on the patio. We have surely enjoyed these missionaries and wish them the best.
On October 6 & 7 Elder Jorge F. Zeballos, General Authority Seventy, visited the Scottsdale Mission along with his wife.
We began the mission tour by visiting the mountain part of our mission which includes the areas of Show Low, Snowflake, Taylor, Pinetop, Eager, St. Johns, Fort Apache. We met with all the missionaries serving in these areas and enjoyed being taught by Elder Zeballos and his wife. After, we were treated to a delicious lunch prepared by the Pinetop Stake.
The next day we traveled back down to the valley where the greater portion of our missionaries reside. This includes the areas of Payson, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, and parts of Phoenix and Mesa. Again, we were thoroughly edified by being taught and instructed by Elder Zeballos and his wife. Both days were extraordinary! We felt very blessed to have such a wonderful time with Elder Zeballos. Hopefully the emails home from your missionaries included things they learned from Elder Zeballos.
And of course, we were well fed once again.
We are blessed to have 8 zones in the Scottsdale Mission. These 8 conferences were held during the last two weeks of September. Every 12 weeks we hold zone conferences where our missionaries come together, prepared to learn, seeking to interact to be edified and leave with invitations to act. We have been so impressed with these missionaries and their desire and motivation to improve and hone their skills to be better instruments in the Lord’s hands. We are grateful to work along side with these talented, devoted and hardworking missionaries to take the gospel to the people of the Scottsdale mission.
Between July and Oct 2016 we have had a few new missionaries come in one at a time for various reasons. Here are their pictures:
Elders England and Pendleton arrived in September. They are ASL missionaries.
Elder Vargas, a visa waiter from El Salvador, arrived in August.
Sis. Davocal served six months in the Philippines waiting for her visa to come through. She finally arrived in July!
