The Arizona Scottsdale Mission bid goodbye to another All-Star group of missionaries – including our last missionaries who were inherited from the Temple Mission (Elder Burnside). The evening was unseasonably cool – cool enough that dinner outside at 6 pm was very pleasant – and no patio misters were needed. After pictures, the group enjoyed Cafe Rio style chicken salad with yummy green salsa dressing. Strawberry shortcake dessert was followed by a family home evening where each of the departing Elders and Sisters was able to bear their testimony of the Gospel.
Departing flights to Korea for Sister Lee and Chicago for Elder Black meant 4:15 am departures from the mission home by President and Sister Sweeney – but everyone was up and surprisingly perky. Except for 2 who drove home, the rest followed at 5:30 am with the Assistants driving them to the airport. Sister Hurst’s and Elder Burnsides’ parents picked them up to drive home. Sister Carambelas was technically not a part of this group, but she is leaving before her group (July) departs so she was welcomed to this departure dinner.
These missionaries have accomplished so very much! We are pleased to call them “fellow servants!”
